This June, AAMSCO had the opportunity to participate and present at the 23rd annual Hot Springs Technology Institute conference for the first time. One of our customers, Ralph Malone of the Arkansas School for Math, Science and the Arts, recommended we attend because it was a prime audience for many of the technology-based solutions we offer. And boy, was he right.
HSTI caters to K-12 technology directors, but there were also teachers, superintendents, and principals in attendance – basically all the key decision makers at most schools. This link leads to more information from the HSTI website: http://hsti.org/index.php?pageID=8365
This wasn’t just a fly-by-night conference with 12 vendors and 30 attendees. Over 1000 people attended the event hosted by Hot Springs High School. Every facet of technology was represented from our specialties (ID systems, access control, and tardy tracking) to surveillance, monitors, smart boards and various other products.
Most conferences have down time where you have the opportunity to check email and make phone calls, etc. I would venture that 90% of the time, we were talking with customers or potential customers. We barely had time to walk around the exhibit area to check out the other vendors. Not a bad problem to have!
Mr. Malone and Robert Glover, who works for the North Little Rock School District’s IT department, graciously volunteered time to talk with attendees that had specific questions about technologies AAMSCO has helped their respective schools implement. It is wonderful to have customers so satisfied with our solutions and services that they are willing to give testimonials. They were a valuable resource that spoke on a technical level, so customers didn’t feel like they were hearing a sales pitch.
As an added bonus, AAMSCO hosted a breakout session. Aided by our vendor and friend, Chris Higgins of OpenTech Services, we demonstrated PeopleTrack SM – Student Management solutions. Almost all of my schools are looking for some more effective way to capture attendance information for entry into the state educational database, eSchool. PeopleTrack’s cloud-based solution allows for real-time capture of information without having to synch like some older systems require. PeopleTrack can also work with the BadgePass Identity Manager systems we promote to the K-12 market. Intergratability is definitely an appealing feature to IT departments. Couple that with the customer service that AAMSCO has become known for, and you have a winning combination.
As I said, Shannon and I talked to several existing and potential customers and have a lot of follow-up work to do in the coming months. I am grateful to Mr. Malone for putting this Hot Springs Technology Institute conference on our radar and feel confident we will be attending future events.
