AAMSCO Sponsors Race Car
We have some serious race fans here at AAMSCO so we found a way to incorporate our passion for racing with our knowledge of ID and membership cards.
Over the past few years, AAMSCO has provided ID cards for Team Rahal in the CART open wheel racing series and helped sponsor Rhonda Trammell, who is on an upward climb through the CART Ladder series.
We are also big NASCAR supporters while currently producing high quality fan club cards for 15 NASCAR teams including Bill Elliott, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Johnny Benson, and Michael Waltrip.
Letter from President
For the last 23 years, AAMSCO has provided identification systems for people and products. We have grown and matured at a steady pace as our customer base has increased daily. In order to keep pace with our additional business, we have increased our operations staff and hired a director of marketing.
We believe our commitment to quality service has been a key contribution to our growth. Planning for 2003, the AAMSCO service department has set several goals, including automating the service call dispatches, participating in comprehensive cross training, as well as continuing education. The main objective of the service department meeting these goals is to gain 100 percent of our customers' satisfaction while continuing to stay a step ahead of technological advances.
AAMSCO's in-house operations team is also doing their part to better serve our customers. The team is further automating our accounting and reporting systems, continuing ongoing software and support training, and as always, backing up AAMSCO's service, sales, and marketing departments.
With this steady growth in personnel and automation of systems, we moved to a larger office space in the same building. We kept the warehouse area and doubled our remaining office space. We hope this was a smooth transition for AAMSCO customers.
This newsletter is another way of sharing our industry knowledge and letting you know what is going on with us. I hope you will find it enjoyable and informative. AAMSCO's continued growth is a direct result of your confidence in our team. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and will strive to continue exceeding your expectations.

Even The Dogs Are Wearin' Em'
For many years, Arkansas Children's Hospital (Children's) utilized a Polaroid camera to produce old-fashioned laminated staff identification cards. In 1996, Children's decided it was time to make a change. They tossed their Polaroid camera and advanced to an AAMSCO identification system that printed full-color ID cards. They did not stop there.
With over 3,000 employees, Children's recently upgraded to a system that includes a superior method of tracking staff and visitor information. Children's Director of Security, Lewis Webb, believes purchasing the new system exemplified the hospital's proactive approach to security.
"Not only do we produce badges for every employee, vendor, and volunteer at Children's, but we also have the capability to track information and run reports on teams and individuals throughout the facility," said Mr. Webb.
Mr. Webb also explained that the hospital's special program's staff members are also required to wear ID badges, whether they are human or canine. Asia, a special program's volunteer, is one of the dogs that work in Children's pet therapy program bringing smiles and comfort to hospital patients.
Instead of cash money, Children's system has encouraged employees to swipe their ID cards in the cafeteria and gift shop while having the charge deducted from their paychecks. The new system has also allowed Mr. Webb and his team to create 11 card designs distinguishing between departments throughout the hospital, resulting in increased security for highly restricted areas.
Creative Concepts
SMI Joist, a division of the Commercial Metals Company, operates five steel joist plants and employs approximately 1,200 people. One of their plants is located in Hope, Arkansas, allowing AAMSCO the opportunity to supply SMI Joist with plastic card systems.
SMI Joist does not use the system to identify employees; they use it to identify the joists they manufacture. Joists are steel trusses set parallel from wall to wall or beam-to-beam in a structure used to support a floor or ceiling. SMI Joist's products can range from 12 feet in length for small metal buildings to 140-foot clear span joists for projects such as distribution centers and sporting arenas.
Each joist is custom engineered, requiring them to be clearly identified for building placement. A matching blueprint has the tag identifier reference. The joists are individually embossed using CR50 cards. Two holes are punched into one side of the plastic cards to attach the card to the joist with wire ties. If an onsite engineer has questions regarding a specific joist, the ID tag has all the information he or she would need to reference the joist.
"We previously used a manual metal tag machine. We began to see an increase in orders and were forced to visit new identification alternatives. This plastic card system from AAMSCO has really increased efficiency and has kept up with our growth," stated Greg White, IT Manager.
