The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management has been a longtime customer and ally with AAMSCO for establishing a strong credentialing and accountability standard.
Since 2008, ADEM has been credentialing their employees with the same format as the counties across the state for other such first responders. By utilizing the same 2D barcode as many of the counties and other state agencies, true interoperability can be achieved.
As an additional security measure, the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management has enforced that each employee’s ID badge has an embedded hologram of the Great Seal of Arkansas. By implementing this, they are able to, while staying consistent with the first responder badging format, distinguish them as a state agency and also eliminate the risk of an employee’s badge being duplicated or mimicked.
Army post, Camp Robinson, is the host to the state’s Department of Emergency Management building. Due to this, ADEM is charged to document all visitors that enter the facility. For many years, this has been achieved only through a paper log at the front desk. In 2012, they purchased the BadgePass Visitor Management system to register, track, and report all guests to their facility. ADEM is able to badge visitors using one of two methods: print a customized visitor label to quickly identify them as a visitor; or issue a QuickPass card, a reusable badge that integrates with ADEM’s access control system to grant visitors temporary access rights in the facility.
Since implementing the visitor management solution, ADEM has updated their former access control system to the BadgePass Access Manager at their facility on post and has implemented it in their warehouse in Pine Bluff. The warehouse in Pine Bluff was also equipped with the Lensec video surveillance solution. The Lensec Perspective software allows the personnel at ADEM to view all events, current and past, that take place at the Pine Bluff campus.
AAMSCO is proud to have our own, Tiffany Pressler, serving as one of the Private Sector Liaisons for the state Emergency Operations Center.
