The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts is a two-year public residential high school in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The school had an access control system in place, but the ongoing service contracts were expensive and their support had not been as good as expected.
Because the hardware incorporated in the old access control system was non-proprietary, the school was able to transition over to another solution called BadgePass Access Manager which would integrate the access control system with their badging and surveillance systems as well as incorporate a visitor management system.
Now when students use their badge at a reader, the photo from the ID created by BadgePass Identity Manager will also appear on the screen where security monitors surveillance. The BadgePass Visitor Management system is used by students to “check out” when they are leaving campus. Whether they are just going out for recreation or to the store for supplies, their reason for leaving is recorded in the system.
BadgePass has not only added to the overall security of the campus. According to the school’s IT director, the money saved by switching to the BadgePass solution will pay for the system within 3 years of implementation making the investment worth the change.
